Bio

An Olympian in the sport of target rifle shooting but now shoots with a different instrument, namely a camera. Winner of 21 international medals for shooting.

Began her photographic journey while researching early explorers with her husband in far north Qld. after they retired, finding blazed trees left by Burke and Wills and Leichhardt. Her husband would ask her to take photos of him standing next to these trees with his Minolta film camera.

Bought her first Nikon camera in 2007. She now uses mirrorless Z72 and Z8 cameras with some success as you can see from the qualifications listed above.

Started the APS book competition in 2016 at the APSCON convention she convened in Adelaide 2016.

Has made numerous presentations to clubs on a range of subjects, is a qualified judge (S.A.) and has continued to do remote judging since moving to Qld. Has judged from club to international level.

Was a member of the Gold Coast APSCON committee and became a member of the APS management committee, rising to Junior Vice President but then advised them that they did not need an 80-year-old President and retired.

Has published four books, none of them on photography and continues as a stalwart member of the Queensland Camera Group.

Best known for her blue dog photographs. These began when her husband contracted Parkinsons and she became his sole carer, and he could not be left alone. Taking photos at home was the only option.

Successes have included a gold medal in America for one of her dog photos, top child portrait in Canada, winner of Outback Image of the Year Winton, finalist in the Heritage Bank Awards and multiple awards at all levels of competition.
