Margaret, thank you for your comment and invitation for others to share their thoughts in my view of the world and this image. I appreciate your comment that I aim for a view that differs from the one expected. My aim in business and now in photography is to find an angle or an image reference that may not be obvious to many and a surprise to some. No always the commercial agenda but for me, very satisfying and hopefully eventually understood by the paying public.

Thank you for explaining. It makes me see the image in a different way though all images really stand alone, apart from what the image maker intended. My reaction is to find the use of the word 'game' jarring or dislocating. The word has so many meanings, some of which, to my mind, clash with the beauty of the water depicted here. I invite other APS members to comment. Only visitors are prevented from having a say, but all members can always comment on images and it would be great to see more than just my reactions in this forum. Especially for this one and your other image of the swimmer, as your photographic eye is so unusual, and sensual.

Margaret, my intention was to to narrow the eye of focus and the bring the eye away from the usual. Each ripple of the water reduces in size to the time it reaches the boat and then falls out of focus. The white is bold and bright to create tension with the tones of the water. The image of the boat implies a race and gives added tension of the shot.

Alan would you write an artist's statement for this image? It is very unusual and would help the viewer to understand what your intentions were.
