Dylan Toh & Marianne LimDylanMarianne2

Saturday: 11:30am – 12:30pm
Presenting: The Power of Light & Vision

Workshop 3: Landscape Photography - Theory to Practice

Everlook Photography is made up of husband and wife team, Dylan Toh and Marianne Lim, who use photography to escape the routines of the working week.  They hope to convey a sense of awe and appreciation through their images, which are a reflection of how, and what, they see. The ability to do such a thing is wholly individualistic, and the essential reality of a scene - a rock, a river, a mountain - is combined with their interpretation of it; the colours of the water, the reflection of light in the sky. Dylan's habit of early rising means the trademark lighting in his images comes mostly from the hues of dawn, while his penchant for a physical challenge sees him capturing scenes that are off the beaten track.

Marianne became interested in photography primarily to take better reference images for her artwork, which then developed into a separate artistic interest. Unlike Dylan, Marianne prefers to remain asleep as the day dawns, usually photographing at sunset instead.

Atkins, quick to pick up the technology, and with leadership from Kodak, helped bring Adelaide into a new era. Atkins' success is purely based on the move from glass plate photography in the 1940s, to the introduction of colour printing to Adelaide by John Atkins in the 1960s to the latest in digital techniques, the company has always held its customers’ hands tightly.
