The following Honours can be applied for through the APS exhibition system.
The terms used are explained later in this information section.
YLAPS - Youth Licentiate of APS No of Points Required - 100 - As for LAPS but up to 50 of these points may come from junior sections of Nationals. Pre-requisites - Must be 18 years of age, or under and be an APS member for at least the 12 months prior to the closing date for applications (31st March). May apply directly for LAPS etc as below.

LAPS - Licentiate of APS No of Points Required - 100 - National and/or International Exhibitions. Pre-requisites - Must have been an APS member for at least the 12 months prior to the closing date for applications (31st March).
AAPS -Associate of APS No of Points Required - 200 - National and/or International Exhibitions. Can include all the points gained for LAPS. No of Multiple Acceptances - 20. No of Images receiving Awards - 5. Pre-requisites - Must have been an APS member for at least the 12 months prior to the closing date for applications (31st March). The holding of LAPS is not a pre-requisite. The applicant may start the journey at this level.
FAPS -Fellow of APS No of Points Required - 400 - ALL from International Exhibitions. May include any international points gained for AAPS. No of Multiple Acceptances - 40 - All gained in international exhibitions. No of Images receiving Awards - 10 - All gained in international exhibitions. Pre-requisites - Must have held an AAPS (and remain a member) for at least the one year prior to the closing date (31st March)
The following can be applied for through the APS Panel System.
All submissions via the Panel System may be either printed or projected images (slides or cd). Audio-Visual presentations are also considered.
LAPS - Licentiate of APS Submit 12 Prints or Images on CD, 9 of which should be of National Standard and the rest close to that standard. Pre-requisite – Must have been a member of APS for at least the one year prior to the closing date.
AAPS -Associate of APS Submit 20 Prints or Images on CD, all should be of National Standard. At least 5 really top images worthy of awards. Pre-requisite – Must have been a member of APS for at least the one year prior to the closing date.
FAPS -Fellow of APS Submit 40 Prints or Images on CD, all should be of International Standard. At least 10 really top images worthy of awards. Pre-requisite – Must have been a member of APS continuously for a period of at least the one year prior to the closing date and held AAPS for at least one year. Received AAPS in 1996 may apply by closing date in 1998.
MAPS -Master of APS No of Points Required - MAPS Honours can only be applied for via submission of two panels of images. Submission must be packed for postal travel between panel members. Pre-requisites - Must have held a FAPS and remain a member, for at least the two years immediately preceding the closing date for applications.
The Certificate of Achievement
All acceptances from National and International exhibitions are allowed at all the levels with a maximum of four per category. These are medium or section specific.
The categories available are: Monochrome Prints (MP) – Open/pictorial acceptances – International and National. Colour Prints (CP) - Open/pictorial acceptances – International and National Projected Images (PI) – Open/Pictorial – International and National Nature (N) – Colour and Mono Prints as well as Projected Images – International and National Photo-Journalism (PJ) - Colour and Mono Prints as well as Projected Images – International and National Audio Visuals (AV) – Acceptances in International and Nationals
Must have been a member of APS for at least the one year prior to making any application. Points are as per scale used for other APS Honours.
Number of Points required for each level from a minimum number of different titles.

These are written as CP-CA3 for example if you worked in Colour Prints.
After reaching level 5 in your choice of category, you may then proceed with the Opal Levels. There are no limits to the Opal Levels. These are written as CP-Opal 2, again if you worked in Colour Prints.
These Opal Levels are based on 25 Titles of different works, each must accumulate 8 points (4 International acceptances or 8 National acceptances or a combination).
Opal levels in AV are also available.
Applications for CA’s can be made at any time.
