The following Honours can be applied for through the APS exhibition system.
The terms used are explained later in this information section. The requirements listed below are an overview only - for full details refer to document AEA1.

LAPSLicentiate of APS
Number of Acceptances Required - 50 - National and/or International Exhibitions.
Pre-requisites - Must be a member of APS with a joining date prior to the closing date for applications (31 March).

AAPSAssociate of APS
Number of Acceptances Required - 100 - National and/or International Exhibitions. Can include all the points gained for LAPS. No of Multiple Acceptances - 20. No of Images receiving Awards - 5.
Pre-requisites - Must be a member of APS with a joining date prior to the closing date for applications (31 March). The holding of LAPS is not a pre-requisite. The applicant may start the journey at this level.

FAPSFellow of APS
No of Acceptances Required - 200 - All from International Exhibitions. May include any international points gained for AAPS. No of Multiple Acceptances - 40 - All gained in international exhibitions. No of Images receiving Awards - 10 - All gained in international exhibitions. Pre-requisites - Must have held an AAPS (and remain a member) for at least the one year prior to the closing date (31st March)

MAPS – Master of APS
No of New Acceptances Required - 300 – All from International Exhibitions which had a closing date on or after the year in which FAPS is obtained. These Acceptances must not have been claimed for any other APS Honour but may include titles which were previously used for another APS Honour. However, acceptances gained after 1st January 2017 must be with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS or FAPS; and within the acceptances referred to there must be a minimum of 15 acceptances to be gained from APS approved Australian International Exhibitions and 20 different titles which have received at least one award from 8 different countries in International Exhibitions. Must hold FAPS and remain a member for at least one year prior to the closing date (31 March).

GMAPS – Grand Master of APS
No of New Acceptances Required - 300 – All from International Exhibitions which had a closing date on or after the year in which MAPS is obtained. These Acceptances must not have been claimed for any other APS Honour but may include titles which were previously used for another APS Honour. However, acceptances gained after 1st January 2017 must be with titles that have not previously been used for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS or MAPS; and within the acceptances referred to there must be a minimum of 15 acceptances to be gained from APS approved Australian International Exhibitions and 30 different titles which have received at least one award from 9 different countries in International Exhibitions. Must hold FAPS and remain a member for at least one year prior to the closing date (31 March).

APSEM – APS Exhibitors Medal

Have obtained 600 new Acceptances from Approved Exhibitions with a closing date after the closing date of the last exhibition from which acceptances or awards were claimed for GMAPS.  All 600 Acceptances must be obtained with new titles not previously used for acceptances or awards for LAPS, AAPS, FAPS, MAPS, GMAPS. The 600 Acceptances must include at least 100 different titles and at least 75 acceptances from Australian National or Australian International exhibitions approved by APS and at least 30 different titles which have won an award.  These awards must have been gained from at least 10 different countries. Pre-requisites – Must hold GMAPS and remain a member for at least one year prior to the closing date (31 March).


The following can be applied for through the APS Panel System.
All submissions via the Panel System may be either printed or projected images (slides or CD). Audio-Visual presentations are also considered.

LAPSLicentiate of APS
Submit 10-12 Prints or Images on CD, 10 of which should be of National Standard.
Pre-requisites - Must be a member of APS with a joining date prior to the closing date for applications (31 March).

AAPSAssociate of APS
Submit 20-25 Prints or Images on CD, of which 20 should be of National Standard.
Pre-requisites - Must be a member of APS with a joining date prior to the closing date for applications (31 March).

FAPSFellow of APS
Submit 40-45 Prints or Images on CD, of which 40 should be of International Standard.
Pre-requisite – Must be a current member of APS and held AAPS at the closing date of applications.

MAPSMaster of APS
MAPS Honours can also be applied for via submission of two panels of images.
Submission must be packed for postal travel between panel members.
Pre-requisites - Must hold FAPS and be a currrent member of APS at the closing date for applications.

Applicants interested in applying for the above distinctions in AV should contact the Chairman of the Honours Subcommittee.
