This competition, now in its 24th year, is to encourage conventioneers to display photographs taken at the previous APSCON for the interest of all members and to assist in publicising APSCON. The competition includes slides and prints.
General conditions
- Entries will be accepted from those APS members who attended APSCON 2007.
- Photographs taken at and during the Convention will be eligible including those taken during official pre or post Convention tours.
- No entry fee is required but return postage must be sent if images are to be returned.
- Entries must be sent post paid. A detailed list of the entries, together with return postage, may be sent with the entries or sent separately.
- Slides must not be packed with prints.
- APS reserves the right to reproduce entries.
- The greatest care will be taken with entries, but no responsibility will be accepted for loss or damage.
- All entries must have been exposed by the entrant but commercial processing is allowed.
Section 1 - Open Section.This section covers all subjects including Pictorial, Nature, Photo-journalism and so on. Photographs of people who were in no way associated with the Convention belong in Section 1.
Section 2 - People of the Convention.This section is confined to photographs of conventioneers and any people assisting in organising, entertaining, performing official duties and the like. While this section will be judged pictorially, due consideration will be given to the value of the entry as a record, and also for any photo-journalistic emphasis.
Section 3 - Beginners Print Section.This is a fun section for conventioneers of limited photographic experience. Unmounted prints covering any subject taken at the Convention can be entered.
Projected Images
Colour Slides/Digital Images: A maximum of four images may be submitted in each of sections 1 and 2. As slides they must be standard 50mm x 50 mm mounts, preferably glass mounted (Glass over cardboard not acceptable). Slides must be spotted in the lower left-hand corner as viewed in an upright position. As Digital Images they must be submitted on CD’s as 220k jpeg files scaled at 1024 max wide x 768 high.
Prints: A maximum of four mounted prints, from 20x 25cm to 40x50 cm, monochrome or colour, in any photographic medium, submitted in each of sections 1 and 2. A maximum of six unmounted prints, maximum size of 20cm x 25cm, monochrome or colour in any photographic medium, may be submitted in section 3. Several worthwhile book prizes will be awarded in each section. As many entries as practicable will be produced in the July/August Image.
Entries close on March 9th 2008 and entries will be held for APSCON 2009, where slides and digital images will be screened and prints (all if possible) will be displayed. Entries will be returned within two weeks after the Convention. A panel of approved judges will be appointed.
